LEVEL: A2-B1
GRADE: any
LENGTH: 15 minutes
TOPIC: reading comprehension
HOW TO:
It is good to start this activity with your students’ knowledge of Roald Dahl, asking students if they know this writer, then introducing the work they probably know but just are not aware he is the author (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, BFG, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Matilda).
After that, let them read quietly the poem and encourage some students to recite it for the whole class.
It is usually nice to end this activity by talking about fables, trying to find the common characteristics with this poem, and finally letting students create the moral for this poem. They can do it individually or in pairs or small groups.
