TOPIC: rephrasing thoughts in a few different ways
HOW TO:
Traditional Japanese poem (haiku) consists of three verses that contain patterns of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. Let your students choose a color, brainstorm together, and write as many words associated with the color as possible.
Then each student should choose 3 words and use them in short sentences.
The last step is to re-write the sentences into a haiku poem.
TIP
This activity can be used with any given topic, not just color.
